CHARACTER INFO

NAME: Revolver Ocelot (Adamska)
SERIES: Metal Gear
CANON POINT: Just before Big Boss’s awakening, pre-MGSV, 1984
AGE: 39

CHARACTER SUMMARY:
Ocelot is a liar first and an incredibly effective soldier second. Taken from his parents and raised from a young age to aid the United States government, he was trained in marksmanship, code-breaking, linguistics, espionage, and combat – everything he would need to become the ultimate spy in service of his country. When first mobilized for infiltration behind enemy lines at age sixteen, he "defected" to the former USSR while remaining in contact with the CIA and simultaneously managing to play multiple political factions in Russia. After four years in such conditions he became more and more disillusioned with his role and started acting for himself and his own personal interests, finally breaking away from the US altogether once his ambition led him away from their aims. He is incredibly driven and highly intelligent as evidenced by his skill for deceit, ability to manage all of his various facades, and capacity for understanding the motivations of others well enough to maneuver himself into positions of power.

While Ocelot’s own motivations are a point of huge discussion throughout the series (and in endless Reddit posts), they can be boiled down to two essential points: first, Ocelot wants to create a world without borders, free from divisions based on nationality and petty political squabbling. Second, he wants to protect Big Boss (an American soldier he met while working in Russia and to whom he is completely devoted) and promote his will. To this end, he is so loyal to both of these goals that he seems completely disloyal to everyone else, as he will use and abuse anyone and anything as needed to achieve them.

At his current canon point he is wholly focused on keeping an injured Big Boss safe and preparing for his return to action by establishing a private military company for him to run, something that is requiring him to put all of his talents to the test. He's conniving, he's rallying the troops for their soon-to-be leader, and he's playing the supporting role as best as he can. No matter who he has to burn in the process.

POWERS:
Ocelot is entirely human and as such has no explicit supernatural powers beyond heightened ESP – this and his other skills are listed below.

  • ESP: Ocelot’s father was a gifted medium who was able to channel the spirits of the dead. While Ocelot is never shown to have such incredible abilities, he does canonically possess an unnatural gift for hypnosis. When required to take on a particularly challenging lie for an assignment, he more than once tricks himself into believing it in order to play his part perfectly. As such his personal mental control is incredibly high.

  • Gunplay: Ocelot’s nom de guerre is frequently extended to “Revolver Ocelot”, and with good reason. He is an incredibly gifted sharp shooter, specializing in his handgun of choice. He is known in particular as a ricochet genius, pulling off seemingly impossible trick shots to hit enemies behind cover by calculating bullet deflection angles nigh instantaneously.

  • Hand-to-hand: While not his preferred method of combat, when forced into close quarters Ocelot is shown to be incredibly dangerous. He goes toe to toe with Big Boss, considered one of the leading hand-to-hand combatants in the world, and recovers from substantial damage very quickly.

  • Manipulation/power of suggestion: Far from being an actual supernatural power, Ocelot's gift for altered states of thought doesn't just extend to himself. He is able to fully deceive a human being into thinking they are someone else, implanting memories through a combination of induced hypnagogia, drugs, and hypnosis over an indeterminate period of time.

    ASPECTS:

  • The Exalt: As stated, Ocelot has ambitious goals, but none are more important than his singular devotion to Big Boss, aka John. He is a factor in all of his decision-making from the point of their meeting until Ocelot’s death and he supersedes any of Ocelot’s aims which come into conflict with him and his.

  • The Iconoclast: Ocelot does not believe in labels and all of his alliances are temporary (except for his loyalty to John, of course). He believes in personal accountability, challenging the status quo, and taking on challenging assignments for his own edification.

  • ANTICIPATED FACTION:
As previously stated, Ocelot’s strengths lie in his ability to play two (or more) sides successfully. I would love an opportunity for him to be in-between or serve as a double-agent of some kind, if that wiggle-room or the potential for that kind of player plot exists! He would be most keen on keeping a close eye on Zenith, however, making it his first choice.

    SUITABILITY:
Ocelot will take to a faction setting like a fish to water. He will be keen to be as involved with both sides as possible, with the goal of getting especially close with higher-ups in said factions. He will want to establish himself as someone who can be trusted while gathering information, all with the goals of ensuring he can do whatever possible to help Big Boss (whether through restoring his world or gaining his shard) and that he can ascertain how he can take advantage of the situation he’s in. He also has experience in training soldiers, and would thus likely get involved with either aiding already existing combat forces or establishing one within the player base!
